July 29, 2010
Pasadena, CA – The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) announced today that 31 seniors will celebrate their graduation on Friday after completing credits and passing the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) this summer. PUSD offered expanded options to help students recover course credits and meet graduation requirements as part of the district’s initiative to raise graduation rates.
PUSD offered expanded support for 12th graders who had not yet passed both the language arts and math portions of the CAHSEE, and credit recovery options such as online classes, seminar courses, and independent study.
The PUSD summer graduation ceremony is Friday, July 30 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the McKinley School Auditorium, located at 325 S. Oak Knoll Ave., Pasadena and will be followed by a reception at Rose City High School.
Officials also announced today that seven Blair IB School students who graduated this year have passed examinations and have earned the International Baccalaureate diploma. Results were released earlier this month.
The IB Diploma Programme is designed as an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. The programme is normally taught over two years. The IB Diploma has gained recognition and respect from the world's leading universities.
“I would also like to commend and congratulate the seven Blair IB graduates who earned the IB Diploma,” said Diaz. “The diploma will give them an advantage in and beyond their college years.”
