Academic Performance Index (API) Scores
The API is the scale used by the State of California to measure the academic performance and growth of schools on a variety of academic measures.  The score ranges from a low of 200 to a high of 1,000, and the state has established 800 as the target to which all districts and schools should aspire.  Over the past two years, PUSD has raised its API score by 36 points.

  • The Pasadena Educational Foundation has raised approximately $8 million in corporate, foundation, individual and government funding to support educational programs.

  • The Webster Foundation has funded the Excellent Middle Schools reform initiative to ensure a high-quality, equitable, academic program district-wide.


  • The Pasadena Community Foundation has invested in the Reinvention of John Muir initiative by providing staff development and training.
  • The Assistance League of Pasadena supplied 1,339 PUSD students with 2 complete school uniforms, underwear, shoes, hygiene kits and books.
